Redundant Acronym Syndrome. How we all love it. Try searching for “pin number” on google and you’ll find (as of today) 4.9 million results, or try UPC Code and you’ll see 7.3 million. Disturbed yet? You should be! Or, how about a quick search for “PDF Format” - take a guess? 20 million? 30? Try almost 200 million results! Of course, if you don’t know why all these searches should return 0 results, it’s time to learn.
Anyway, why am I writing about this? Because I just stumbled across an amusing rant about them and I thought it was worth the read. Have a read of “funkwit’s take on RAS”.
Well, enough procrastinating for me - I’ve got an essay to finish (although, I suppose I could be forgiven for writing a post about English usage while I’m supposed to be writing an essay, right? … RIGHT??)
Write that essay!!!! Nice to see you are using your time at uni wisely!
