I’m still no closer to figuring out what I want to do next semester, short of finding more and more courses that I might be interested in. I’m currently looking at possibly doing one or more of:

• Master of Applied Science (Information Security) @ RMIT
• Graduate Certificate in Digital Forensics @ Melbourne University School of Enterprise

But then again, there’s still heaps more options. I know I want to get into I.T. security, but there seem to be so many specialist areas, and since I’ve only touched on security before (one subject a year or so ago), how am I supposed to know which area to go into?

One other thing that’s happened over the semester, is that I’ve been studying a lot of history and philosophy of science subjects, and I’ve got a taste for that, too. I’ve always enjoyed contemplating the nature of the god and the universe, but some of the philosophy this semester has really got me thinking. As such, I’ve decided to finally start a pet-project that I’ve spent the last few years thinking about, but (like many things), hadn’t quite got around to doing – I now have a blog about religion, science, philosophy and spirituality. I’ve started by re-working and posting an essay I wrote last year at uni about resolving evolution with a belief in god, and I’ve been working on a few more posts which will appear over the next few weeks. I hope everyone is well, and no doubt I’ll write again soon, as it’s coming up to the end of semester (and we all know that time I should be studying becomes time I write on my website)…

Anyway, the main purpose of this post was to show you some photos I took while the Commonwealth Games were in Melbourne. Sure, so I didn’t see any of the sporting events, but there were some very funky things happening for the festival. I’ve got some photos of the “luminarium” which was on St Kilda beach (made by the “Architects of Air“, and of the city at night, including the “Fish” which lined the Yarra while the games were on. All these photos are in the commonwealth games 2006 album. Enjoy!

I’ve also got HEAPS of awesome shots of random country scenary taken along the way, but I want to go through them first before I post them up on the site. There’s also a few sets of images I’m hoping to turn into panoramas, so… when they’re ready, I’ll put them up too!

In the mean time, I’m off to bed, as I’ve gotta work tomorrow. Doesn’t it suck coming back from holidays?

Well, what do we have today? Quite a major update – I’ve been getting a little sick of e107 (the CMS I was using to run the site), and finally decided to take the plunge and try out WordPress. Well, needless to say, I like it. Granted, there aren’t quite as many features, but – the backend is MUCH nicer, and it’s a lot more customisable.

In case you haven’t noticed, this change has also meant a big theme change! The image at the top of the pages is a small bit of a photo I took a year or so ago. The full northcote sunset photo is also in the photo gallery, as are most of the others, in the Richard’s Favorites category.

I’m wanting to make this site a bit more than just my day-to-day photo album, and I want to make a bit more of a show of some of my favorite shots – so I’m going to work on ways to make the “Richard’s Favories” section a bit more prominant. I’m also hoping to get around to recording more of my music, and making that available on this blog (we’ll see how that goes – I’m sure you all know how little I do when exams are over!)

Also, for now, the guestbook has gone – if you want to leave comments (and, please do!) you can still make comments on photos or posts.

I’ve done some work on the style of the site so it’s starting to look like my OWN. It should all be working, but if you notice any bugs (i.e. things that look out of place, text that you can’t read, etc) let me know! (just post a comment by clicking “read/post comments” above).

Also, feel free to sign up for a username at the site – that way I can keep in touch, and let you know when it’s updated. You’ll also be able to suggest links, upload photos and other stuff!

And, just for the record, the site as it’s looking now is just temporary. I’m working on a new theme based on the layout of my Information Systems homepage, but I am interested….
