Blog the World

Ok, time for more toys on the site. Just discovered a couple of new plugins to add locations (i.e. longitude and latitude) to my posts, and… to display them in a zoomable and panable world map of my blog. I’m kinda excited about this! Especially since I’m about to go on a bit of a road trip with Kel next week (just a few stops around country Victoria).

Also, check out the bit next to this post which tells you when I posted it - there’s also now a link to a street level map of where I was when I posted it.

WordPress Update

Well, it’s exam time again - and guess what that means? Yes! I procrastinate and do some work on my webpage!

Well, what do we have today? Quite a major update - I’ve been getting a little sick of e107 (the CMS I was using to run the site), and finally decided to take the plunge and try out WordPress. Well, needless to say, I like it. Granted, there aren’t quite as many features, but - the backend is MUCH nicer, and it’s a lot more customisable.

In case you haven’t noticed, this change has also meant a big theme change! The image at the top of the pages is a small bit of a photo I took a year or so ago. The full northcote sunset photo is also in the photo gallery, as are most of the others, in the Richard’s Favorites category.

I’m wanting to make this site a bit more than just my day-to-day photo album, and I want to make a bit more of a show of some of my favorite shots - so I’m going to work on ways to make the “Richard’s Favories” section a bit more prominant. I’m also hoping to get around to recording more of my music, and making that available on this blog (we’ll see how that goes - I’m sure you all know how little I do when exams are over!)

Also, for now, the guestbook has gone - if you want to leave comments (and, please do!) you can still make comments on photos or posts.

Few minor updates

I’ve made a few minor updates to the backend of the site. If you notice anything strange - links not working, things looking wrong, etc, let me know!
